It will mean the hospital estate will be fully de-steamed.<\/p>\n<p>Rooftop solar panels will also be installed along with the upgrade and optimisation of the building energy management systems, upgrades of roof and pipework insultation and the replacement of air handling unit fans units with low-energy fan systems, which will reduce the site\u2019s energy consumption and improve the patient and staff experience.<\/p>\n<p>When the work is complete, the investment could save the Trust an estimated \u00a31 million a year in energy costs and will support the Trust\u2019s Estates Decarbonisation Strategies, Green Plan and national NHS ambitions of reaching net zero by 2040.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"quote\">\n<div class=\"wrap quote__wrap\">\n<div class=\"swiper-container js-simple-quotes\">\n<div class=\"swiper-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"swiper-slide\">\n<div class=\"quote__holder\"><span class=\"quote__icon\"> <svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"36\" height=\"28\" viewbox=\"0 0 36 28\"><g fill=\"#F58220\" fill-rule=\"evenodd\"><path d=\"M12.319 0h3.648a2 2 0 0 1 1.838 2.788l-10.286 24A2 2 0 0 1 5.681 28H2.033a2 2 0 0 1-1.838-2.788l10.286-24A2 2 0 0 1 12.319 0zM30.319 0h3.648a2 2 0 0 1 1.838 2.788l-10.286 24A2 2 0 0 1 23.681 28h-3.648a2 2 0 0 1-1.838-2.788l10.286-24A2 2 0 0 1 30.319 0z\"><\/path><\/g><\/svg> <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"quote__holder\">\n<p class=\"quote__text\">\u201cIt is wonderful that the work has commenced on this sizeable project, which will see the site cut its carbon footprint by over 3,000 tonnes a year. This ambitious project not only brings the hospital closer to achieving its net zero goals, but also promises to significantly enhance the experience for patients, staff, and visitors alike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Clarke, Project Manager for the Carbon and Energy Fund (CEF) commented:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe CEF is proud to support the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust in achieving its carbon reduction targets.
