{"id":1704,"date":"2026-04-09T08:41:01","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T08:41:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vitalenergi.creativespark.co.uk\/?p=1704"},"modified":"2026-04-09T08:41:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T08:41:01","slug":"nhs-tayside-set-for-carbon-savings-as-it-continues-net-zero-journey-with-vital-energi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vitalenergi.creativespark.co.uk\/?p=1704","title":{"rendered":"NHS Tayside Set for Carbon Savings On Net Zero Journey with Vital Energi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\ufeff<\/p>\n<p><meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width, initial-scale=1, shrink-to-fit=no\"><meta http-equiv=\"X-UA-Compatible\" content=\"IE=edge\"><meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no\"><meta charset=\"utf-8\"><title>NHS Tayside Set for Carbon Savings as it Continues Net Zero Journey with Vital Energi<\/title><meta name=\"description\" content=\"\"><meta name=\"keywords\" content=\"\"><meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index,follow\"><meta name=\"googlebot\" content=\"index,follow\"><meta name=\"twitter:card\" content=\"summary\"><meta name=\"twitter:title\" content=\"NHS Tayside Set for Carbon Savings as it Continues Net Zero Journey with Vital Energi\"><meta name=\"twitter:description\" content=\"\"><meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"website\"><meta property=\"og:url\" content=\"https:\/\/www.vitalenergi.co.uk\/media\/press-releases\/nhs-tayside-set-for-carbon-savings-as-it-continues-net-zero-journey-with-vital-energi\/\"><meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"NHS Tayside Set for Carbon Savings as it Continues Net Zero Journey with Vital Energi\"><meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"rich-text-case-study rte\">\n<div class=\"wrap rich-text-case-study__wrap\">\n<p>NHS Tayside are continuing their ambitious decarbonisation works with a major energy efficiency scheme which will revolutionise how they generate and use energy across three of their sites whilst saving an estimated <strong>3,427 tonnes of carbon emissions <\/strong>over the project\u2019s life expectancy.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which is scheduled for completion by <strong>Spring 2025<\/strong>, will see a range of energy conservation measures installed, each designed to deliver maximum carbon savings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>269 rooftop solar PV panels across three sites, generating a total of139kWp.<\/li>\n<li>5 heat pumps installed across three buildings, with a total output of 300kW.\u00a0 These will also include 20,000l of combined thermal storage.<\/li>\n<li>Improved insulation to reduce heat loss.<\/li>\n<li>Upgraded heating controls for optimised energy use.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of 9 doors and 124 windows across two of the buildings.<\/li>\n<li>Upgrading 382 light fittings to modern LED fittings and installing intelligent controls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Works will be carried out at Abbey Health Centre in Arbroath, Westgate Health Centre in Dundee and St. Margaret&#8217;s Hospital in Auchterader, Perthshire.\u00a0 Crucially, Vital Energi will deliver an energy performance contract which guarantees key performance indicators such as financial and carbon savings.\u00a0 All savings will be independently verified by a third party as part of the contract.<\/p>\n<p>The works are aligned with the Scottish Government\u2019s target for public sector organisations reaching net zero by 2040 and eliminating fossil fuelled heating by 2038.\u00a0 The project has received \u00a33.2m in funding from the Green Public Sector Estate Decarbonisation Scheme (GPSEDS). <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"quote\">\n<div class=\"wrap quote__wrap\">\n<div class=\"swiper-container js-simple-quotes\">\n<div class=\"swiper-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"swiper-slide\">\n<div class=\"quote__holder\"><span class=\"quote__icon\"> <svg xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"36\" height=\"28\" viewbox=\"0 0 36 28\"><g fill=\"#F58220\" fill-rule=\"evenodd\"><path d=\"M12.319 0h3.648a2 2 0 0 1 1.838 2.788l-10.286 24A2 2 0 0 1 5.681 28H2.033a2 2 0 0 1-1.838-2.788l10.286-24A2 2 0 0 1 12.319 0zM30.319 0h3.648a2 2 0 0 1 1.838 2.788l-10.286 24A2 2 0 0 1 23.681 28h-3.648a2 2 0 0 1-1.838-2.788l10.286-24A2 2 0 0 1 30.319 0z\"><\/path><\/g><\/svg> <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"quote__holder\">\n<p class=\"quote__text\">We worked with NHS Tayside to gain a full understanding of what was installed in each of their buildings and how it was performing.\u00a0 Once we had built our model, we were able to identify the measures which would deliver the maximum carbon savings.\u00a0 We\u2019re excited to be back partnering with NHS Tayside again and this project will be another strong step on their road to net zero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"quote__author\">Kieran Walsh &#8211;
