It\u2019s important to remember, however, that these projects go beyond environmental benefits. Over \u00a33.2m has been spent with local people and businesses, and 3,000 hours have been invested in green careers and skills, which will create a true, long-lasting legacy for Solihull.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"quote__author\">Andrew Wightman, <span class=\"quote__position\"> Vital Energi\u2019s Regional Director<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"rich-text-case-study rte\">\n<div class=\"wrap rich-text-case-study__wrap\">\n<p>The visit forms part of a wider programme of engagement events, which showcase how heat networks can help towns and cities deliver more affordable and resilient sources of energy and heat to their buildings.<\/p>\n<p>The network will supply well-known local landmarks, including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Solihull College<\/li>\n<li>Tudor Grange Academy<\/li>\n<li>Tudor Grange Leisure Centre<\/li>\n<li>The Core<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When complete, the project will feature a low\u2011carbon energy centre powered by rooftop air\u2011source heat pumps, which draw warmth from the ambient air and store it in 100,000\u2011litre thermal vessels.\u00a0 This heat is then distributed through a 5km underground heat network.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\ufeff MP Visits Solihull\u2019s Low Carbon Heat Network Dr Neil Shastri-Hurst, Member of Parliament for Solihull West and Shirley, visited the Solihull Energy Network to see how the project is helping to reduce the town\u2019s carbon emission by 1,070 tonnes during Phase 1.
