{"id":1642,"date":"2026-04-09T08:40:37","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T08:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vitalenergi.creativespark.co.uk\/?p=1642"},"modified":"2026-04-09T08:40:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T08:40:37","slug":"hundreds-more-households-in-leeds-to-benefit-from-low-carbon-heat-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vitalenergi.creativespark.co.uk\/?p=1642","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds of households in Leeds to benefit from low carbon heat network"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\ufeff<\/p>\n<p><meta name=\"viewport\" content=\"width=device-width, initial-scale=1, shrink-to-fit=no\"><meta http-equiv=\"X-UA-Compatible\" content=\"IE=edge\"><meta name=\"format-detection\" content=\"telephone=no\"><meta charset=\"utf-8\"><title>Hundreds more households in Leeds to benefit from low carbon heat network<\/title><meta name=\"description\" content=\"\"><meta name=\"keywords\" content=\"\"><meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index,follow\"><meta name=\"googlebot\" content=\"index,follow\"><meta name=\"twitter:card\" content=\"summary\"><meta name=\"twitter:title\" content=\"Hundreds more households in Leeds to benefit from low carbon heat network\"><meta name=\"twitter:description\" content=\"\"><meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"website\"><meta property=\"og:url\" content=\"https:\/\/www.vitalenergi.co.uk\/media\/press-releases\/hundreds-more-households-in-leeds-to-benefit-from-low-carbon-heat-network\/\"><meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Hundreds more households in Leeds to benefit from low carbon heat network\"><meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"rich-text-case-study rte\">\n<div class=\"wrap rich-text-case-study__wrap\">\n<p><strong>Hundreds more households will soon enjoy more affordable, reliable, and lower carbon heating with three tower blocks set to become the latest to connect to the city\u2019s flagship Leeds PIPES district heating network.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>259 council properties in Lovell Park Heights, Lovell Park Grange, and Lovell Park Towers will be set up to receive heat from the network within the next six months.<\/p>\n<p>Private leaseholders of properties in the Little London tower blocks will also be able to benefit from the network if they opt to connect their homes to the system.<\/p>\n<p>Households that are benefiting from the upgrade can expect to see the cost of heating their home reduce using Leeds PIPES, compared to their existing heating systems, and will also enjoy better reliability and control.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College of Music) has become the thirteenth non-residential customer to have signed a contract to connect.<\/p>\n<p>The new connections are expected to reduce the city\u2019s annual carbon footprint by 279 tonnes, supporting efforts to end the city\u2019s contribution to climate change by transitioning to \u2018net zero\u2019 emissions.<\/p>\n<p>By using heat and energy recovered from non-recyclable waste at the\u00a0Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility (RERF)\u00a0to provide warmth and hot water to buildings in the city, the\u00a0Leeds PIPES\u00a0district heating project is helping businesses and residents to move away from costly fossil-fuel powered heating systems.<\/p>\n<p>The council estimates that the network, delivered in partnership with Vital Energi, is helping existing customers to collectively save nearly half a million pounds (\u00a3490,000) in reduced energy costs this year alone.<\/p>\n<p>The \u00a362 million network continues to expand and is regularly connecting to new buildings. Leonardo &amp; Thoresby student accommodation buildings and St James\u2019s Hospital are the latest buildings to have begun taking heat from the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds City Council is currently in discussions with dozens of potential customers.
