Heat pumps transform Tameside Hospital in \u00a314m project<\/title><meta name=\"description\" content=\"\"><meta name=\"keywords\" content=\"\"><meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index,follow\"><meta name=\"googlebot\" content=\"index,follow\"><meta name=\"twitter:card\" content=\"summary\"><meta name=\"twitter:title\" content=\"Heat pumps transform Tameside Hospital in \u00a314m project\"><meta name=\"twitter:description\" content=\"\"><meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"website\"><meta property=\"og:url\" content=\"https:\/\/www.vitalenergi.co.uk\/media\/press-releases\/heat-pumps-transform-tameside-hospital-in-14m-project\/\"><meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Heat pumps transform Tameside Hospital in \u00a314m project\"><meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"rich-text-case-study rte\">\n<div class=\"wrap rich-text-case-study__wrap\">\n<p>Vital Energi has partnered with Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust on a \u00a314m decarbonisation project that will cut carbon emissions at Tameside General Hospital by over 2,000 tonnes a year.<\/p>\n<p>Having designed and developed the scheme, Vital Energi will construct a new energy centre housing a 2MW heat pump system, comprising four air source heat pumps and two water source heat pumps, supported by two efficient low temperature hot water boilers.<\/p>\n<p>A new air source heat pump will also be installed within the Pathology block, replacing the old and inefficient gas boiler.<\/p>\n<p>The project includes de\u2011steaming the site-wide heating and domestic hot water systems to improve temperature control and eliminate heat losses, enhancing overall energy efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>A range of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) will also be installed. These include cavity and pipework insulation, hydronic optimisation of secondary systems, EC fan upgrades, upgrades to the building management systems, and roof\u2011mounted solar PV. More than 500 light fittings across the site will be upgraded to LEDs, including 170 emergency lights.<\/p>\n<p>The Trust\u2019s collaboration with Vital Energi represents a significant step toward improving the efficiency and sustainability of the estate.
